I SHOULD be doing work but there's nothing for me to do and I'm bored....
Haven't heard ANY Sleater Kinney at all so I've no idea if they're good or not... judging by the personnel they probably are, and everyone says they're really good... but then again, I don't normally like what 'everyone' likes....
I've been listening to Shellac, Slint, Fugazi and, of course, Tetsuo Ewok Inferno. And that band with the mp3 thing going on with their site, Tantrum... they're damn good too, kinda like MBV with The Stone Roses and a hint of Levitation, with a female vocal. Superb music for a bit of herbal smoking in the evening.....
I'll find that Sleater Kinney online somewhere, have a listen and get back to you on that.....

Ok, just watched the vid for the single.... Not bad at all, kind of wiry Sonic Youth-ish, howling, taut, focused and yeah, impressed.
And Corin Tucker is very very pretty.....

Here, you dropped these: ing ing :P
Anyhew... ummm, yeah it was Entertain where they're all playing in a forest and Carrie is singing most of it. There's that certain passion in the playing, the lack of which in many artists so infuriates me, that just lifts it up from all the other similar sounding stuff around....
I've always found that though, you can play me a load of songs that all sound the same but there's just a certain depth to some that others lack. I think it's about making music because you need to make music, not because you want to, or, worse, because you want to get famous. With some artists, and from my meagre expreience I include Sleater Kinney in this, they just NEED to be doing it, otherwise they wouldn't function properly. I can understand and respect that. It makes me empathise with the song and get lost in it rather than just hearing it play, and I figure that that's something all bands need to have, an ability to lose yourself in the music.
Of course, in order for that to happen, the musicians themselves need to lose themselves in the music which is why I hate so many of these bands from places like Brighton Institute of Modern Music, or, for Londonders, LCMM. They seem to have had all the passion educated out of them and replaced by technical proficiency, which, to my mind, is not the same.
Anyway.... I could go on for ages (I already have...) so I'll hand the mic back to you m'dear.
